Your Guide to Virtual Activities
Highlighted activities are designed specifically for bereaved children who are currently grieving the loss of a loved one.
Starred activities require children to sign up at least one week in advance so that there is ample time for them to receive the materials necessary to participate in the activity.
All virtual activities are FREE of charge and open to all children ages 6–17 living in Lake, Sumter, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Highlands, and Hardee counties.
This 30–45 minute group meets every Monday at 8:30 a.m. This group is open to children ages 6–11, no experience necessary. (NOTE: Group time will change after school starts. Watch for an updated meeting time.)
Exercise is known to create more “happy hormones” in the brain. And who doesn’t love getting a good workout in while jamming to some favorite tunes! Whether your kid is a pro at the famous “Fortnite Floss” or prefers the classic “Cha Cha Slide,” this activity is open to everyone who likes to boogie!
This activity is for children who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Kids will create their own musical instrument and use it to express their “inner storm” of emotions. At the end of the class we will play our inner storms together and learn just how easy it can be to calm that storm. Children must sign up at least one week in advance.
Haiku Poem Night
This unique workshop offers kids the opportunity to express themselves using the art of Japanese Haiku poetry.
Memory Bracelet Making
This activity is for children who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Kids will listen to the beautiful story, “The Invisible String,” then have the opportunity to make their own bracelet using UV activated beads that only show color in the sun. They will learn that though love may not be seen with the eyes, it is always felt with the heart. Children must sign up at least one week in advance.
No More “Bored” Game Night
Tired of staying home? Are your typical games getting a little boring? Well come join the fun with other kids as we play some unique virtual games together!
A classic game that is easy for anyone to play. Feelings Bingo is open to all children who are currently grieving the loss of a loved one. Children must sign up at least one week in advance.
Scream Box Activity
Sometimes we just gotta SCREAM!!! In this workshop, kids will create a “Scream Box” where they “let loose” with unpleasant emotions relating to the death of someone close. We will decorate these boxes with words that make us feel supported and comforted. Your child will learn that this is his or her safe space to “scream and shout and let it all out!” Children must sign up at least one week in advance.
If we’ve got to wear masks, we might as well wear cool ones! Children will be given the materials necessary to create and decorate their own mask. Children must sign up at least one week in advance.
Memory Scavenger Hunt
This activity offers the chance for children to gather items from around the house and share how these items remind them of their loved one. It is a great chance for kids to come together and support one another through their grieving/healing process.
What better way to find peace and balance in your life, than to create your own beautiful mandala? Join in as we create and learn about mandalas. Children must sign up at least one week in advance.

‘Up’ Adventure Book Activity
Just like our favorite characters, Ellie and Carl from the movie Up, we are going to create our own Adventure Book, filled with pictures representing experiences we’d like to have in our lifetime. Children will have the opportunity to share experiences they had with their loved one. Children must sign up at least one week in advance.
