Bereavement

As a not-for-profit hospice program for Central Florida and Georgia, Cornerstone has a number of professionals on our team who are trained to help those dealing with a loss.

When someone chooses Cornerstone Hospice for their care, bereavement services are available right away, should you desire. You may also choose the option to join one of our group sessions that provide an opportunity to connect with others dealing with similar challenges as you and your family.

What many do not know is that our bereavement services are available to anyone in our community who is experiencing the emotions of grief due to the loss of a loved one, regardless of if they were a patient of ours or not. The Cornerstone bereavement professionals provide both individual and group sessions.

Because our professional grief counseling has helped so many over 37 years, Cornerstone will often work with local law enforcement, the courts, local churches and schools in times of need.

You can get more information on how we can best serve you by calling Cornerstone Bereavement services at 888-728-6234 or email @ bereavement@cshospice.org.

Cornerstone Honors Veterans

Cornerstone Hospice, an affiliate of Chapters Health System, honors the services of our Veteran and First Responder patients through the Chapters Health Valor program. We proudly conduct a tailor-made pinning ceremony for our Veteran and First Responder patients and their families, which is performed by a Veteran and/or First Responder volunteer. Each Veteran or First Responder is presented with a special pin and certificate of appreciation.

Chapters Health Valor Program Manager

In October 2022, Clifton Pease became the Chapters Health Valor Program Services Manager. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Clifton’s introduction to the military lifestyle began when he had the opportunity to attend Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas. During his time in the JROTC program, he was able to achieve the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in command of 30 fellow students, and he secured the status of “Golden Glove” in boxing.

Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he honorably served for four years as a firefighter at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL and also completed a tour as one of the first teams to land overseas in response to the September 11 attacks. After serving, he found his calling in hospice and senior care operating an assisted living facility and dedicating the last 15 years to Chapters Health, focusing on community education in regard to hospice and home healthcare.

Jewish Services

Cornerstone is one of only a few hospices in Florida accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice (NIJH). Our Jewish neighbors can trust that our staff is updated every year by The NIJH on how we will provide end-of-life care in accordance with Jewish law.

The training for the care of our Jewish patients is given both to Cornerstone staff and volunteers. This training is inclusive of issues related to nutrition and hydration, when and how to provide medicinal intervention, The Jewish Living Will and Jewish rituals for the immediate aftermath of death.

Pet Peace of Mind

We LOVE our pets! We recognize that some people hesitate to follow a hospice recommendation because they are afraid they will lose their loving connection to their pet. To reduce the anxiety surrounding the care of your pet, Cornerstone Hospice offers Pet Peace of Mind, a program which enables hospice patients to keep their pets at home with them throughout their end-of-life journey.

Cornerstone needs volunteers to make sure patient pet(s) are fed, walked, cleaned and get medical attention or treatments as needed.

Not able to volunteer? You can still make a difference with a donation to Cornerstone Hospice – Pet Peace of Mind.
