This position is located in the hospice house in The Villages. This is a Saturday and Sunday part time position.
Description: Responsible for the planning, buying, preparation and serving of meals at all Hospice House locations as needed.
_____ 1. Plans meals with high quality nutritional content for patients in collaboration with the nursing staff to ensure food content according to dietary medical orders.
_____ 2. Plans for the availability of three meals plus snacks every day with the ability to have light meals and snacks at times requested by patients, ensuring as much patient choice as possible, using a menu rotation.
_____ 3. Conducts food inventory on a regular basis.
_____ 4. Buys necessary food as economically as possible.
_____ 5. Ensures safe, efficient food preparation and storage according to public health regulations and hospice house policy.
_____ 6. Ensures food served from kitchen to patient room stays at proper temperatures according to regulations.
_____ 7. Ensures food served to patients in isolation follows policy and procedures for isolation.
_____ 8. Ensures trays, dishware and cooking utensils are sterilized according to regulations.
_____ 9. Ensure kitchen equipment is in proper working order.
____ 10. Provides ongoing teaching, formal inservices, and support to food service volunteers and hospice house staff.
____ 11. Other duties as deemed necessary.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year food planning experience.
- Experience in health care setting and/or nutritionist preferred.
- Valid Florida driver’s license and required auto liability insurance.
